34010 Sidmouth, SR West Country Class
A preserved SR West Country Class 4-6-2 Pacific, built at Brighton Works in September 1945 as SR No. 21C110. Withdrawn from British Railways service in March 1965. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales in 1982 after seventeen years in the yard.
Sidmouth is currently owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd and undergoing full restoration at their Herston Works (Swanage Railway), the work being carried out to main-line standards. SLL plan for 34010 to succeed classmate 34028 Eddystone as their main-line certified locomotive when the latter requires overhaul.
Last recorded as under restoration at the Swanage Railway (Herston Works), owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd. Operating status: Under restoration.

Notable history
34010 Sidmouth was built at Brighton Works in September 1945 as SR No. 21C110 and ran on British Railways until withdrawn in March 1965, when it was moved to Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry. Rescued from Barry in 1982 by Graeme Walton-Binns and moved to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the locomotive has passed through several owners and locations. Currently owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd and undergoing restoration at their Herston Works base (Swanage Railway), the restoration is being carried out to mainline standards — SLL intend 34010 to become their next main-line certified locomotive, planned to succeed 34028 Eddystone on the mainline when that locomotive is due for overhaul in the early 2030s.
