34101 Hartland, SR West Country Class

A preserved SR West Country Class 4-6-2 Pacific, built at Brighton Works in 1950, an unrebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1966. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales in 1988.

Hartland is currently under long-term restoration, owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd.

Notable history

34101 Hartland was built at Brighton Works in 1950 as one of the later batch of West Country class locomotives, unrebuilt and retaining original Bulleid air-smoothed casing. Withdrawn from BR service in 1966 and rescued from Barry scrapyard in 1988. Currently under long-term restoration at the Sellinge site in Kent by Southern Locomotives Ltd, one of several Bulleid Pacifics in various stages of restoration or storage in the SLL collection.
