34070 Manston, SR Battle of Britain Class
A preserved SR Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 Pacific, built at Brighton Works in November 1947 as SR No. 21C170 — the last locomotive numbered in Bulleid's original numbering sequence. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1964. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales in 1981.
Manston is an unrebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific in original air-smoothed condition, named after Manston airfield in Kent — one of the most important RAF stations during the Battle of Britain. Based at and operated by Southern Locomotives Ltd at the Swanage Railway.

Notable history
