7027 Thornbury Castle, GWR Castle Class
A preserved GWR Castle Class 4-6-0, built at Swindon Works in 1949 as one of the later Castle class examples. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1963. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales.

Notable history
7027 Thornbury Castle was built at Swindon Works in 1949 as one of the late-series Castle class built under Charles Collett's successor Frederick Hawksworth and withdrawn in 1963. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, she is privately owned and currently under restoration at a private site in Weston-super-Mare.
