5690 Leander, LMS Jubilee Class

A preserved LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-0, built at Crewe Works in 1936. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1964. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales and restored to main-line working order, operating extensively on national network charter trains through the 1990s and 2000s.

5690 Leander was one of the most active main-line certified Jubilee class locomotives in preservation before its most recent overhaul. It is currently under restoration at West Coast Railways, Carnforth, with the future of its return to service uncertain.

Last recorded as under overhaul at West Coast Railways, Carnforth, owned by the Beet family. Operating status: Under restoration. Current livery: LMS Crimson Lake.
