A preserved GWR Hall Class 4-6-0, built at Swindon Works in 1929. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales and based at Tyseley Locomotive Works, where restoration work has been undertaken.

Last recorded as based at Tyseley Locomotive Works. Operating status: Heritage railway service / cycles.

Notable history

Bought from Woodham Brothers at Barry as 4983 Albert Hall and taken to Tyseley for restoration. During the restoration the engine was identified as 4965 Rood Ashton Hall: when 4983 was withdrawn for scrapping at Swindon in 1962, its identity had been transferred onto 4965, and it was 4965 that survived into BR's late-steam years and reached Barry. The engine runs today as 4965 Rood Ashton Hall but carries 4983 Albert Hall nameplates on one side, a nod to the identity it carried in preservation.
