4942 Maindy Hall, GWR 4900 Hall Class

Built at Swindon in 1929. Withdrawn from BR service and rescued from Barry scrapyard. Acquired by the Great Western Society at Didcot. Dismantled in 2014 to provide parts (notably the frames) for the new-build GWR Saint Class No. 2999 Lady of Legend, in effect reversing Collett's original 1924 conversion of Saint 2925 Saint Martin into the prototype Hall. The new-build Saint 2999 entered operation at Didcot in 2019. The locomotive will not be reassembled in its 4942 Maindy Hall identity.
