30925 Cheltenham, SR Schools Class

A preserved SR Schools Class 4-4-0 express passenger locomotive, built at Eastleigh Works in 1934 to Richard Maunsell's design — part of the most powerful 4-4-0 class ever built in Britain, designed for the restricted loading gauge of the Hastings line in Sussex. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1962 and preserved as part of the National Collection.

30925 Cheltenham is one of three preserved Schools class locomotives (alongside 30926 Repton at the NYMR and 30928 Stowe at the Bluebell Railway), named after Cheltenham College. Currently on display at the Mid-Hants Railway awaiting overhaul.

Last recorded as based at the Mid-Hants Railway, owned by the National Railway Museum. Operating status: Awaiting overhaul. Current livery: SR malachite green.
