Notable history

Built at Swindon in 1959 and entering service on 31 January 1960, allocated to St Philip's Marsh. It was sold to Woodham Brothers and arrived at Barry in October 1965.

It was bought for preservation without its tender by the same group that had rescued and restored 92214, and left Barry for Peak Rail at Buxton in May 1985 after nineteen years and seven months in the yard, later moving on with 92214.

Boiler certificate expired at the end of December 2023; overhaul reported as having started in November 2025. Has previously masqueraded as 92220 Evening Star with NRM agreement.
92220 Evening StarNational Railway Museum, York — 92220 Evening Star, the 999th and final BR Standard, and the last steam locomotive built by British Railways (March 1960). Built in BR Locomotive Green with a copper-capped chimney. National Collection, on permanent static display in the Great Hall of the National Railway Museum, York.
92240Bluebell Railway — 92240, based at the Bluebell Railway. The first 9F to be steamed in preservation, having been restored to working order in 1990.
92245Barry Tourist Railway — 92245, remains in scrapyard condition at the Barry Tourist Railway as part of a planned exhibition telling the story of the Woodham Brothers scrapyard. Boiler being used on classmate 92212; cab in a yard at Blackrod, Bolton. Not expected to be restored.
