92207 Morning Star, BR Standard Class 9F
Notable history
Built in Swindon A Shop in May 1959, near the end of 9F production, and named Morning Star in 1986. It reached Woodham Brothers at Barry in March 1965 and stood there for twenty-one years and seven months, leaving on 21 October 1986 as the 180th locomotive rescued from the yard.
Keith Bottomley bought it on its release from Barry and restoration has continued steadily since. In 2022 the Somerset and Dorset Railway Heritage Trust agreed to buy it for £150,000; it remains at Poole, with the boiler at the East Lancashire Railway for work.
