7927 Willington Hall, GWR Modified Hall Class

Notable history

Built at Swindon in 1950 to GWR design under BR — one of the very last GWR-design 4-6-0s built. Withdrawn from BR service in 1964 and rescued from Barry scrapyard. Now serves as a parts donor: the boiler is being used in the construction of new-build GWR Grange Class 6880 Betton Grange, and the frames are allocated to new-build GWR County Class 1014 County of Glamorgan. The locomotive will not be reassembled in its own identity; preservation as a complete entity is therefore unlikely.
