Notable history

Released from Crewe Works on 14 March 1981 and accepted into service on 19 April 1981 as part of set 254036, one of the later power cars built for the East Coast route.

On 1 November 1987 it formed part of the set that took the world speed record for diesel traction, reaching over 148 mph just south of Northallerton. Porterbrook donated it to the 125 Group in June 2021.
