43044, Class 43 HST Power Car
Notable history
Built under lot 30876 and outshopped from Crewe Works on 19 March 1977. It was re-engined with a VP185 power unit in 2003, and came off lease at the start of July 2020 when the VP185 fleet was run down.
Bought from Porterbrook, it joined the 125 Group fleet in February 2021 and was named Edward Paxman on 21 August 2022. Work is in hand to return it to Valenta power, the engine the class was designed around.
