5775, GWR 5700 Class (Keighley & Worth Valley Railway)
Notable history
5775 worked the Railway Children film of 1970, the engine of the Old Gentleman, painted in a fictional Great Northern Southern Railway red livery for the production. After BR withdrawal in 1963 the engine was sold to London Transport (becoming LT L89) and worked Metropolitan Line engineering trains until 1969. Sold to the KWVR thereafter, the engine has been a regular working performer through periods of operation interspersed with overhauls.
Additional notes
One of 16 preserved GWR 5700 Class pannier tanks. The engine is occasionally painted in a representation of its 1970 film livery for special events.
