6046, USATC S160 2-8-0
A USATC S160 2-8-0 with an unusually long overseas service history, now in operational condition at the Churnet Valley Railway.
6046 was built at the Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio and was sent direct from new to France in 1945, where it entered SNCF service. It later passed to the Hungarian State Railways and was renumbered MÁV 411.144, working there until it was retired. The engine was saved from scrap, brought back to the United Kingdom for restoration, and first steamed at home in 2012. It is currently in operational service on the Churnet Valley Railway alongside its sister 5197.
