35027 Port Line, SR Merchant Navy Class

A preserved SR Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 Pacific, built at Eastleigh Works in 1948. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1967 at the end of Southern Region steam. Rescued from Woodham Brothers' scrapyard at Barry, South Wales in May 1982 — her departure from the scrapyard was filmed for a BBC documentary The Train Now Departing.

35027 Port Line was based at the Bluebell Railway from 1988 to 2000, last running in 1996. Now owned by Icons of Steam (Jeremy Hosking) and stored at the Crewe Heritage Centre awaiting restoration.

35027 Port Line was built at Eastleigh Works in 1948 as part of the third post-nationalisation batch with larger 6,000-gallon tenders. Withdrawn at the end of Southern Region steam in 1967 and sent to Barry. Rescued from Barry in May 1982 as part of a BBC documentary (The Train Now Departing), her departure from the scrapyard was filmed for the programme. After restoration she was based at the Bluebell Railway from 1988 to 2000, last running there in 1996. She is now owned by Icons of Steam (Jeremy Hosking) and stored at the Crewe Heritage Centre awaiting restoration.
