Additional notes

Location, ownership, livery and status last confirmed East Lancashire Railway, August 2026. Sources: the Class Forty Preservation Society and the ELR Diesel Group. Out of service with a defective crankshaft and lifted off its bogies for assessment of the segmental bearings. Subject to verification.

Record note: this locomotive was held twice on this site, as D335 and as 40135 — the same machine under its pre-TOPS and TOPS numbers. The two records disagreed: one gave the owner as the Class 40 Preservation Society in BR Brunswick green and in service, the other as "W&SR Group (formerly Class 40...)", purchased by Crouch Rail, in BR rail blue and static. The published sources support Class Forty Preservation Society ownership and BR green; the locomotive has carried both D335 and 40135 in preservation. Merged in August 2026 and the details re-checked.
