Notable history
Built by English Electric at the Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns works in Darlington and entering traffic in May 1961 as D8057, allocated to Darnall in Sheffield for South Yorkshire freight work. It moved between Tinsley, Immingham and Stratford before settling at Tinsley for sixteen years, and transferred to Toton in May 1985.
Withdrawn from BR service in 1993, it passed to HNRC and then to DRS as a spares and reserve locomotive, stored at Smalmstown near Carlisle, before returning to HNRC in 2006 and moving on through Long Marston and Barrow Hill. It has never run in preservation; its power unit is out for a full overhaul.
