BR Standard 5MT first

This entry is an alternative reference to the BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0, sometimes referred to as the "Standard 5MT" or "BR Five". All history, specifications, numbering, and preservation information are held in the main BR Standard Class 5 entry.

The Standard Class 5 was designed by R. A. Riddles and his team and built at several BR works between 1951 and 1957. 172 were constructed, numbered 73000–73171. Eleven survive in preservation. See the main entry for full details.
