Herbert Jones
Biography
Herbert Jones was a British locomotive engineer who held senior posts in the Great Western Railway's drawing office at Swindon under G. J. Churchward and Charles Collett. As Chief Draughtsman (and later in the Loco Designs section) he prepared working drawings for several of the major GWR classes of the early twentieth century, in particular the variants of the Saint Class and the Castle Class.
Detailed personal biographical information for Jones is sparse in published sources; his contribution is recorded principally through Swindon's design records and the histories of the classes he worked on.
