46201 Princess Elizabeth, LMS Princess Royal Class

A preserved LMS Princess Royal Class 4-6-2 Pacific, built at Crewe Works in 1933 as LMS No. 6201, the second of Sir William Stanier's ground-breaking Princess Royal class — the first truly modern express Pacific locomotives in Britain and the direct forebears of the Princess Coronation class. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1962.

46201 Princess Elizabeth holds a celebrated record: on 16–17 November 1936 she ran from London Euston to Glasgow non-stop in 5 hours 53 minutes and returned the following day in 5 hours 44 minutes — the longest non-stop steam runs ever achieved in Britain at the time, averaging over 70 mph for over 400 miles. Preserved by the Princess Elizabeth Locomotive Society from 1962, she has had an active preservation career on both heritage railways and the national main line. Currently at Carnforth dismantled for overhaul.
