32473 Birch Grove, LB&SCR E4 Class

Notable history

Built in 1898 as London, Brighton and South Coast Railway No. 473 Birch Grove, one of Robert Billinton's E4 radial tanks, and carried through as Southern Railway B473, then 2473, and finally BR 32473.

It returned to service on the Bluebell Railway in January 2010 in 1920s Southern Railway olive green, and is currently a static exhibit awaiting overhaul.

At the Bluebell Railway since preservation, apart from visits to other lines including the Severn Valley and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Re-entered traffic on 30 January 2010 after a full overhaul.
