British Rail Class 414/423

This entry refers to the combined family of 4HAP and 4VEP Southern Region DC EMU types that shared operational and maintenance characteristics on the Southern Region's outer-suburban and main-line stopping services. The Class 414 (4HAP) and Class 423 (4VEP) frequently worked together in multiple-unit formations on Kent Coast, Sussex, and Bournemouth line services, and were maintained alongside each other at Southern Region depots.
