30072, SR USA Class 0-6-0T

Notable history

Built by the Vulcan Iron Works of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1943 as one of the USATC S100 tanks shipped to Britain for the invasion of Europe. The Southern Railway bought a number of them after the war to replace worn-out shunting tanks in Southampton Docks, where their short wheelbase and light weight suited the dock lines.

It is at the East Lancashire Railway undergoing major boiler repairs, and was bought by Andy Booth in August 2015.
