60800 Green Arrow, LNER V2 Class

A preserved LNER V2 Class 2-6-2 mixed-traffic locomotive, built at Doncaster Works in 1936 as the class prototype — the first of Sir Nigel Gresley's V2 class, the most successful express mixed-traffic design in LNER history, with 184 examples built between 1936 and 1944. Withdrawn from British Railways service in 1962 and preserved as part of the National Collection.

60800 Green Arrow is named after an LNER premium fast-freight service. The V2 class worked East Coast Main Line expresses and fitted freight trains, famously described as capable of working practically any traffic. Restored to main-line working order in preservation and operated national excursions before withdrawal for overhaul; currently on static display at the National Railway Museum.
