Class 17 Clayton cab (identity unconfirmed)
A preserved cab fragment from a Class 17 Clayton locomotive, on static display at Derby Museum.
The fragment's identity has not been verified. D8568 (the complete Class 17 survivor, now based at the Severn Valley Railway with the Diesel Traction Group) cannot be its source. The most likely candidates are the Derby Research Department departmental engines D8521 and D8598, both of which were scrapped at Derby in circumstances under which a cab survival is plausible, but neither identification has been confirmed.
Last recorded at Derby Museum, BR rail blue livery. Location, livery and operating status last confirmed pre-2024 and subject to change.
