The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway locomotive shed at Ravenglass houses the R&E's fleet of 15 in gauge steam and diesel locomotives, with Whillan Beck being one of the railway's preserved diesel locomotives associated with the shed and the R&E's depot operations. The R&E's Ravenglass shed is the operational heart of the seven-mile miniature railway through the Eskdale valley, providing maintenance facilities for the steam fleet that includes River Esk, Northern Rock, River Mite, River Irt, Bonnie Dundee, and the historic Synolda among its preserved vehicles.
