re-clarkson
The Clarkson steam railcars at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway context refers to the experimental steam railcar designs associated with Thomas Clarkson, which were among the early experiments in self-propelled steam railcar technology at the turn of the twentieth century. Two Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway locomotives preserved under this classification are Northern Rock and River Mite, which are preserved and operated as part of the R&E's modern steam fleet on the 15 in gauge Cumbrian mountain line.
The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway runs for seven miles through the valley of the River Esk in the Lake District from the coast at Ravenglass to the foot of the fells at Dalegarth (Boot), offering one of the most spectacular miniature steam railway journeys in Britain through the wild Cumbrian landscape.
