The Liverpool and Manchester Railway Rocket is covered in the main Rocket entry — Robert Stephenson's 1829 Rainhill Trials winner that established the multi-tubular boiler and exhaust steam blast pipe combination that became the foundation of steam locomotive design for over a century. A replica of Rocket is preserved at the National Railway Museum, York, alongside the more recently produced working replica. See the main entry for the full history.
