The Kirklees Light Railway is a 15 in gauge miniature steam railway in Clayton West, West Yorkshire, running through the former Kirklees Estate and offering steam-hauled passenger services through attractive South Yorkshire countryside on what was the former trackbed of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's Skelmanthorpe branch. The railway operates a fleet of steam locomotives built to the 15 in gauge standard, with four preserved examples — Badger, Fox, Hawk, and Owl — giving the railway an animal-themed fleet well suited to its appeal as a family tourist attraction.

The 15 in gauge tradition in Britain dates from the miniature steam railways established at the turn of the twentieth century, with the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in Kent as the most celebrated example, and the Kirklees Light Railway represents a more recent establishment in the same tradition — a working steam railway offering the miniature steam experience in a northern English setting quite different from the coastal lines of Kent or the Highland scenery of Scotland's Strathspey Railway.
