class-82-ac-electric
The BR Class 82 (AL2) was one of the five pilot-scheme 25 kV AC electric locomotive types built for the West Coast Main Line electrification in the early 1960s — see the main BR Class 82 entry for full details. Built by Beyer Peacock of Manchester with AEI electrical equipment, the Class 82 was one of the less numerous of the five AL types, with ten locomotives. One example, 82008, is preserved at the Electric Railway Museum, Baginton.
