class-35-hymek
The BR Class 35 Hymek was a series of 101 diesel-hydraulic B-B locomotives built by Beyer Peacock of Manchester between 1961 and 1964 — see the main BR Class 35 Hymek entry for the full history of this celebrated Western Region diesel-hydraulic type. The Hymek name derived from the Mekydro hydraulic transmission used in the class, and the type was one of the most attractive of the WR's diesel-hydraulic fleet with its distinctive nose design. Four examples are preserved: D7017, D7018, D7029, and D7076.
