British Rail Class 318/1

The Class 318/1 is a subclass designation applied to the original batch of Class 318 sets as built, covering the twenty-one three-car sets numbered 318250–318270 delivered to Strathclyde PTE in 1985–86. The designation was applied retrospectively to distinguish the original build from any subsequent modifications or subclass reclassifications.
