British Rail Class 313/2
The Class 313/2 is a subclass designation applied to a group of Class 313 sets that were modified for operation on the Southern Region's 750 V DC third-rail network, enabling their redeployment from the original Great Northern 25 kV AC route to South London services. The modification involved reconfiguring the power supply selection equipment to prioritise the DC third-rail mode appropriate for the Southern network, while retaining the dual-voltage capability that is fundamental to the Class 313 design.
