BR Class D2/10 (North British 0-4-0)

Service and withdrawals

Withdrawals came quickly as British Railways contracted in the later 1960s and small shunters lost their work. Several were sold on for industrial use, which is how the only preserved example survived.

Identification features

Small 0-4-0 jackshaft-drive shunter with a centre cab and rounded bonnet ends, of distinctly North British appearance.
