18 inch

The 18-inch goods was the formal London and North Western Railway designation for what is universally known as the Cauliflower class — named after the 18-inch diameter inside cylinders specified in Ramsbottom's original 1858 design. The Cauliflower nickname came from the ornate LNWR crest carried on the splashers, which enginemen said resembled a cauliflower.
