BR Eastleigh

Biography

BR Eastleigh (the British Railways Southern Region engineering office at Eastleigh Works) inherited the engineering tradition of the LSWR under Drummond and Urie and that of the Southern Railway under Maunsell and Bulleid. After 1948 it built the last of Bulleid's West Country Pacifics and a string of post-war Southern electric multiple-units. The works survives today under Arlington Fleet Services as a heavy-maintenance facility.
